From Warrior to Healer….Healing Begins Within

Timothy first began practicing meditation and studying energy healing in the mid 1990’s as a means to cope with childhood trauma. In 1998, he joined the U.S. Army as an infantryman, in his words, “to learn discipline and to serve a cause greater than myself”.

He served with the 101st Airborne and the 1st Infantry Divisions. During his seven years of service, he attained the rank of Sergeant, deployed three times to include combat operations in Iraq from 2004 to 2005, and earned several awards and commendations.

Like many veterans, Mr. Grossman suffered from multiple medical conditions concurrent to his military service, many of which would not be formally diagnosed until years after he was discharged.

Yet like many, when the uniform is hung up, service does not end. In 2007, Mr. Grossman became a professional advocate for nationally chartered DAV®, a 501(c)(4) veterans organization representing 1.2 million veterans nationally. He later went to work for Wounded Warrior Project in Washington, D.C. the nation’s premier voice for Post 9/11 wounded, ill and injured, whose programs encompass mind, body, and engagement.

It was within these later years he witnessed the growth that holistic programming had on the minds, bodies, and spirits of the traumatized persons and their family unit.

Nonetheless, in August 2016, Mr. Grossman’s combat stress and injuries caught up to him. Notwithstanding the good that he did in the lives of others, the loss of coworkers and clients to suicide, and his own inability to care for his family all took its toll as he battled from within struggling to manage the physical, psychological and spiritual.

From 2018 to 2020, Mr. Grossman began to approach his own recovery slowly through meditation techniques, retreats, holistic programming, and with a team of caring medical professionals. He was spiritually guided to study and practice Usui/Holy Fire® III Reiki alongside renewing and refining his studies in mindfulness and meditation.

It can be said that his being led to Usui/Holy Fire® III Reiki saved his life. It was the weeks leading up to taking the First and Second Degree and then all the months thereafter when the transformation began to make a significant shift.

Over time with daily self-practice, the anger, despondence, self-blame, hypervigilance, survivor’s guilt, terror and shame associated with the actions of combat would begin to leave the energetic body. Realizations would take place, and increasing levels of peace and awareness would set in.

“Holy Fire® Reiki helped and continues to help with our healing on a multidimensional level far beyond our perception, this is a continual process, as is life. Reiki allows us to become something better, lighter. Our highest, most authentic expression of our Being. This process is different and unique to each person, but I have seen it work in others much like myself.”

Mr. Grossman’s desire is to help all who seek it, especially those who have experienced trauma or illness in all its forms, to experience the benefits of Reiki. If they so desire, to learn and develop a personal Reiki practice as a means to enhance their healing of mind, body and spirit so as to begin their “beautiful unfolding” in their own time.

Likewise, Mr. Grossman is dedicated to the advancement of the acceptance of Reiki as a complimentary modality within the medical community as the evidence continues to support rather than contradict its viability and validity as our understanding deepens and broadens.

Why? Because the modality of Reiki has thus far been scientifically shown to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and initiate healing on multiple levels. In many cases with regular treatments, proper medical care, and maintenance, the body’s own healing mechanisms often begin functioning more effectively, thereby reducing clinical encounters and patient load within an already burdened healthcare system.

“It is the heart and its ability to unconditionally love the self and others, not the mind and its ability to convince, justify, or cajole, that creates freedom within the self.”
