Aikido – is a Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba as a synthesis of his martial studies and philosophy. Aikido is often translated as “the Way of unifying with life force energy” or as “the Way of harmonious spirit.” Ueshiba’s goal was to create an art that practitioners could use to defend themselves while also protecting their attacker from injury. Aikido requires very little physical strength as the lead uses the attackers momentum using entering and turning movements.
Community Movement/Flex Stretch – This class is appropriate for everyone! It is a graceful blend of seated yoga, meditation, tai chi, breathing, gentle strengthening exercises & postural awareness. This class is a great way to ease back into movement following injury, surgery or periods of general inactivity. Tuesday is donation based and open to all interested in trying out the variety of movement options that Centered has to offer. Thursday is a bit more energizing and is a paid class – FLEX program & Silver Sneaker benefits apply for those over 65!

Lionflow Yoga – This Yoga style uses gentle movements and powerful postures with a blend of non-repetitive yoga flow and qi-gong to warm up the body internally, safely stretching deeper into poses toward the end of class. This method of sequencing postures creates the opportunity to safely use your strength to find more flexibility within yourself and releases latent tension providing numerous benefits. The class is done with music and the teacher practices with you so that you can learn both visually and verbally. All the Lionflow classes follow a core structure so that as students improve or need adjustments the class and instructor are free to meet their needs.
Meditation – Anyone can practice meditation. Spending even a few minutes in meditation can restore your calm and inner peace thus relieving anxiety, tension and worry. You can practice meditation wherever you. During meditation, you focus your attention and eliminate the stream of jumbled thoughts that may be crowding your mind and causing the stress. This process results in enhanced physical and emotional well-being. Please inquire about our one on one meditation sessions.

PlayConnect [ Ages 1-5yrs. ] – curriculum draws on the philosophies of Steiner Waldorf early childhood development and Attachment Parenting. We use play to naturally bond with our children, build confidence and help them handle big emotions. Play is a child’s way of understanding the world around them, and that world is shaped by sensory experiences. Simple and beautiful music, interactive games and free exploration through movement and loving touch form the basis for PlayConnect classes.
The preschool class (ages 1-5) encourages a child’s growing imagination and developing mind through more advanced games and movement designed to help caregivers always connect through the joys and challenges of each milestone. Rough and tumble play as well as the importance of storytelling will be expanded upon in these classes.
PlayConnect [ For Babies ] – In baby classes (birth to beginning walkers), caregivers and babies play together through yoga movements, dance, rhyming games and un-structured play with each other and simple toys.

Tai chi is considered a soft martial art and helps to reduce stress and anxiety, increase bone density and lower blood pressure within it’s practitioners.
