Today is World Health Day! World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated every year on April 7th, under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization (WHO) and observed by all World Health Organization member states.

Today is a perfect time to take an inner inventory and ask yourself:

  • Do I feel healthy?
  • How do I find find my own natural balance?

Our bodies are intelligent by design. They want to be in balance.

To treat health from a holistic perspective, we are looking at ourselves as a whole… the many facets and aspects that make up our whole being… physical, mental, emotional, energetic, spiritual, and so on…

Holistic Health Questions

We may ask ourselves these questions to get a “whole picture” view of our health:

  1. What do I eat?
  2. How well do I sleep?
  3. What injuries have I had in my lifetime?
  4. How much stress do I have at work?
  5. How healthy is my home life?

All of the above factors combined make up the whole of us. Often times, when we have a particular health condition that needs healing, it is because one or more of these factors is out of balance.

For centuries, people have been treating only the symptoms of illness. We’ve been practicing “sick care” instead of looking at our healthy bodies as a whole, and practicing holistic healthcare.

Today is a new day. World Health Day.

As Einstein put it, “The definition of insanity is to continue doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

Holistic care does not mean omitting important aspects of our current model.

As a matter of fact, holistic health is an effort in integration between old and new, Eastern and Western, current medical practices and alternative healing methodologies. Let’s come together as individuals, as a local community and as a world to find our wholeness through awareness, honesty and change!

Balance is a teeter totter. To be Centered is a continual effort and there is no pinnacle. Let’s begin anew today by practicing, exploring, questioning, pondering, imagining and DREAMING of a new world practicing true Health Care… by returning to wholeness through Holistic Care.

Here’s to whole health and being,

Lauren
